The Children's Department houses a diverse collection of books. Our collection contains reference materials for research, fiction and non-fiction, picture books, easy readers, audio tapes, popular series paperbacks such as Goosebumps, Box Car Children and Baby-Sitters' Club. In addition, we subscribe to 27 magazines. Our electronic resources include interactive CD-ROM programs for games and reference, and the On-line Public Access Catalog (OPAC). Also, free Internet access is available in the Children's Room. The Library does not monitor, nor has control over the information accessed through the Internet, and cannot be responsible for its content. Children will be required to have parental permission to access the Internet. Ask the staff in the Children's Room about the procedures.
Our Children's Room offers a variety of fun, educational, and entertaining programs throughout the year to meet the diverse needs of children in our multicultural community. The regularly scheduled programs include weekly pre-school storytimes and toddler storytimes. The special programs feature arts and crafts, hands-on workshops, nature programs, movies, puppet shows, holiday programs and Summer Reading Club. |
