Reciprocal Borrowing
Fort Lee Public Library is a member of BCCLS (Bergen County Cooperative Library System), which is the tenth largest library system in the nation. As a member of the Fort Lee Public Library, you have access to the five million books, sound recordings, DVDs, and videos currently in the BCCLS system and may personally borrow from any Bergen County library with your Fort Lee Library card. If you would like items tha
t are in another library and it is not convenient for you to get there, we will order those items for you free of charge.
We will request up to three (3) items from other libraries per visit. We will send a message to that library, they will send the item(s) to us, and we will then call or email to notify you that the item(s) are here.
It usually takes three to five (3-5) business days for the item(s) to arrive. We will hold the item(s) at the Front Desk or at the Children's Room Front Desk accordingly. We ask that you pick up the item(s) within three business days after you receive a call or email. You may then return the item(s) to us and we will send them back to the proper library for you. You may also return books from other libraries in any Bergen County library and we will return them to proper library for you free of charge. If there is an item that is not in any Bergen County library, the Reference Department may be able to get it for you through the New Jersey State Library. This may take 1 - 6 weeks.
Reserves
If our copy of a book or item is checked-out, we will be glad to put your name on a holds list. When the item is returned, the Circulation Desk will call to let you know that it is here. We will hold this item at the front desk or at the children's room front desk accordingly. We ask that you pick up the item within three (3) business days after you receive a call. After three (3) days we will contact the next person on the list. You must have your library card barcode number to place a hold on an item.
